Analytics
See what your training is actually doing to your fitness.
The numbers that matter for trail running
Trailia surfaces the metrics that reflect trail running fitness: total elevation gain, pace trends across different terrain types, heart rate zone distribution, cadence, and training load. Alongside the standard distance and time totals, these tell a more complete story about whether your training is working.
Training load management
The analytics dashboard tracks your acute-to-chronic workload ratio (ACWR), chronic training load (CTL), and training stress balance (TSB) over time. These metrics show whether you're building fitness, peaking, or accumulating fatigue that hasn't surfaced as soreness yet. Catching a load spike early is much easier than recovering from an injury that follows it.
Elevation and terrain, tracked properly
Weekly climbing and descending are tracked as their own totals rather than folded into distance, so you can see whether your vertical is actually building toward what your race demands. Pace is shown against gradient, which is the only way a trail pace trend means anything.
Period comparison
Week-over-week and month-over-month overlays let you compare current training blocks against previous ones. Percentage-change deltas on all key metrics show whether distance, elevation, and load are trending in the right direction across your training cycle.
Flexible date ranges
View your data across 7-day, 30-day, and 90-day windows, or set a custom date range to isolate a specific training block. Zoom out to see a full base phase, or zoom in to review a single build week.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which analytics features are free?
The 7-day analytics window is available on the free plan. Extended ranges (30-day, 90-day, custom), period comparison, and PDF export are Pro features.
Do I need a connected device to see analytics?
You need activity data in Trailia, whether from a connected device or manual file uploads. Without activities, there's nothing to analyze.
What is ACWR and why does it matter?
ACWR is the ratio of your recent training load (last 7 days) to your longer-term load (last 28 days). Research suggests that spiking above 1.5 significantly increases injury risk. Trailia tracks this automatically so you can see when you're ramping too fast.
Can I export my analytics data?
Pro users can export analytics reports to PDF.
Which devices do the analytics work with?
Any activity in Trailia feeds the analytics, whether it synced from Garmin Connect, Strava or Polar or was uploaded as a FIT, GPX or CSV file. Metrics that need heart rate, such as zone distribution, need activities that recorded it.
